As my senior project in Studio Art at Bard College, I transformed a push broom into an ink-jet printer. A custom microcontroller measured wheel rotation to determine the broom’s position and activated cyan, magenta, yellow, and black airbrush nozzles at precise moments of travel in order to print an image.
The paintbrush for Head Alignment is a modified broom, which is connected to a Wiring microcontroller that activates electronically controlled airbrush nozzles at specific moments in the broom’s travel.
